CAP Honor Guard Patch

On behalf of the KSWG Honor Guard staff, thank you for your interest in the Kansas Wing Honor Guard Program.

We are just as excited to start this program as you are, but it won't be easy at first.

To start off, we will have training each month at commander's call beginning at 1300.

There will be lots of training to go around but we will try to make it really fun & rewarding (as it should be).

Kyle J. Velasquez, 1st Lt, CAP
HGOIC Kansas Wing Honor Guard

About the Kansas wing's program:

This is the Wing Honor Guard, you can still be a member of your squadron's honor guard/color guard (and it is highly encouraged).

Our main goals will be to:

  • Provide training.

    • At every commanders call.

    • We will provide training to all (even Senior's) and KSWG HG membership is not required.

    • Provide basic honor guard training so that you can start an honor guard at your unit.

    • Provide continual training so honor guard members can remain proficient.

  • Standardize training so that all squadron honor guards in the wing are doing things exactly the same way.

  • Perform details at the wing level (Wing conference or other special occasions)

  • Compete in competitions or organize wing competitions.

We will primarily utilize training and procedures outlined in the following manuals:

All members should download these documents and become familiar with them!

Here are some really cool honor guard videos from the military:

(Warning: If you have a slow internet connection, these videos will take a long time to watch)

This one is about the U.S. Air Force (our big blue brother) Honor Guard Drill Team:

Requirements to join the KSWG honor guard or participate as a member of it in activities (You do not have to join the wing honor guard to participate in our monthly training!):

  1. Be a member in good standing (Paid dues, attend meeting regularly, etc.)

  2. Must attend wing training at least once a quarter (every 3 months)(This will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.)

  3. Be at least a C/Amn. (This is so that cadets have at least some knowledge of basic drill.)

  4. Be a member of your Squadron's honor guard/color guard team (if there is one).
  5. Members must constantly practice on to remain up to standards.
  6. Maintain and wear your uniforms according to all applicable regulations (CAPR 39-1, CAPP52-8)

Membership in any CAP Honor Guard is a privilege, not a right.
